Call me an evangelist--an "Internet evangelist." I love this stuff--anything and everything about how people connect to people over the Internet. When I'm not tinkering with my Web site (www.samizdat.com) and answering email (seltzer@samizdat.com), I'm probably talking about what I've learned--spreading the "gospel." And--miracle of miracles--that's how I make my living. In fact, the title on my business card at Digital Equipment (where I worked for 19 years) was "Internet Evangelist." Now I'm an independent consultant (www.samizdat.com/consult.html), doing the same thing.

When the Lazy Way editors asked me to write a book about online shopping, I jumped at the chance, because online "shopping" involves a variety of tasks--not just clicking to well-known sites, throwing some items in a "shopping cart," and making a credit card transaction. Online shopping also involves auctions, newsgroups, chats, and forums. It involves making your own Web pages, and selling items, as well as buying. Online Shopping The Lazy Way is yet another way to spread the Internet "gospel"--that anyone can become an active player, not just a passive consumer--that anyone--including you--can learn to take advantage of the Internet's full power.
