URL and name of site -- Global Ecology Study Abroad/IHP http://world.std.com/~ihp/ihp.html
name of company/organization -- International Honors Program
physical location of site -- Software Tool & Die, Brookline, MA
date site first went public -- May 1995
name and email address of Webmaster -- Lydia Walshin ihp@world.std.com
main business goal of Web site -- To generate interest in a study-abroad program for college students; online version of our course catalog and services for alumni
in what sense is this site a success? -- We've generated 6 applications (our program only takes 30 students a year!) so far this year, months ahead of when our print catalog will be available. Lots of good inquiries, too.
to what do you attribute your success? -- Beginners luck.
nature of content -- Course catalog, alumni information, slide library
target audience -- Prospects and our own alumni
I'm lucky and have a former student who set up the initial stuff for me....
do you own your own Web server? -- No
if no, name and URL of host company -- Software Tool & Die, http://www.world.std.com
size of internal staff devoted to your Web site -- One!
biggest headache faced -- Can't get our mail function to work too well (for online applications).
most gratifying moment -- Getting our first response traceable to the Web site -- from a student in Chile!
wish list (what you want to do to make your site even more successful, and what you need for that) -- I need more knowledge, but don't have time to acquire (we're a very small organization, and online stuff is a small part of my job). Failing that, I'd like to know how to measure how many people log onto my site -- I'm sure this is an easy thing, but I don't have a clue about how to do it.
