Perdition

by Rex Sexton

The morning sun I never see
The evening stars aren't meant for me
I ride the road of misery
It just travels on

The world was born to dark and light
Good and bad
Wrong and right
I took the wrong turn on the road of life
It just travels on

The good die young
The bad don't live
The good ride the sunlight to the pearly gates
I chose a road no one should seek
It just travels on

The sun comes up
The sun goes down
I ride the night
And I'm hell bound
I ride the road where nothing meets

It's a long and lonely road
It just travels on

Into the night

by Rex Sexton

Into the night
Riding that mare
Man on the run
Danger Beware

No where to go
No where to hide
Into the night
Grim reaper behind

Made the wrong move
In the wrong town
Crossed the wrong path
at the wrong time
Played the wrong game
Witht he wrong crowd
Wod on the street
"You're going down"

Into the night
Mazes and mirrors
Shadows and smoke
Panic and fear
Dead man in flight
Going nowhere
Into the night
Grim reaper is here

Life's on the line
Racing for time
Got to make tracks
Get out or die

No where to go
No where to hide
Dead man in flight
Into the night

You Were the One

by Rex Sexton

You were the one
You were the one
It's over and done
You were the one

The heartaches begun
The sad days will come
I sure blew that one
You were the one

I had my fun
Playing love on the run
Sexy and young
saucy and fun

I sure got stung
I sure was dumb
I had life's plum
You were the one

You were the one
You were the one
Sun of a gun
You were the one

Nocturne

by Rex Sexton

There was a nightclub in a cellar (in my dream) small, dark, empty. A black woman in a gossamer gown sat at a piano under a spotlight. She was haunting beautiful. She sang this song.

Man in the moon
Lord of the night,
Talk with the whispering
Winds in their flight
Man in the moon,
Tell them to sigh,
I have a new love
Gentle and bright.

Under the stars,
In each other's arms,
We'll find enchantment
In each other's charms.
Here in the dark,
In each other's hearts
We'll find contentment
We'll never part.

Maybe she was night, night dressed in stardust, lulling my AIDS ward sleep with melodies to soothe my fevered brow.

Night

by Rex Sexton

The lonely strangers
Come and go
They bow and take
Your hand
You dance around
The room of smoke
To the music of
The band

The bar is just
A haunt for ghosts
Lost souls at their
Dead end
They watch you glide
With broken hearts
Wishing you were
Held by them

Like the star that lit
The Holy Night
Like the glow in the
Magic lamp
LIke the pot of gold
At the rainbow's end
You're heaven's gift
To the lucky man

The lonely strangers
Come and go
With money in
Their hand
You dance them to
Your hotel room
You come back and
Dance again

My dreams of you
Died long ago
Life stole our
One small chance
What might have been
We'll never know
The stars were set against

The lonely strangers
Come and go
The music never ends
I leave to face
The night alone
While you dance
Through smoke and men

Hell Woman

by Rex Sexton

Hell woman turn the night to flames
Hell woman set the stars ablaze
Hell woman melt the shining moon
Hell woman you're the fires of doom
Hell woman driving me insane
Hell woman you're the devil's dream

Hell woman set the winds a rage
Torch the cities, burnt he small tank towns
Scorch the forests, boil the seven seas
Turn the mountains into molten ash
Hell woman flaming in my soul
You're too hot to handle but I can't let go

Hell woman with your flahsing eyes
Body heat and lips of fire
Heart from Hades and soul from ehll
Banshee daughter of Beelzebub
Hell woman raging in my brain
Hell woman you're a fever dream

Love Ain't Blind

by Rex Sexton

Play it cool
Bide your time
Shrug it off
Let it ride

Let it be
It's OK
There's no rules
To this game

He can't win
They won't last
He's not for her
It's no match

Women want
What they regret
He's all jive
She'll see it yet

Cause love ain't blind
And hearts are true
so ease your mind

Let It Go

by Rex Sexton

Let it go
Walk away
We were fools
Sad to say

What went wrong?
Who's to blame?
Why did our love
Fade away?

We were young
We were gay
Long ago
Far away

Hearts as one
Souls the same
We chased rainbows
Raced the sun

What went wrong?
Who's to say?
Was it just life
Gone astray?
Did we wake up
From a dream?
All we were
Died one day

Hand in hand
Through good and bad
Side by side
Through thick and thin
We shared laughter,
Joy and pain

Blind Alley

by Rex Sexton

Hard time
                    Dead time
Hard line
                    Marking time
Hole blind
                    No mind
Bottom line
                    Do the time
Walk the line
                    Feel the bind
Toe the line
                    Lose your mind
Thank about
                    Your life of crime
Day dreams
                    Memories
Sleep streams
                    Reveries
Candyland
                    In my hand
Lift them high
                    Or you die
See the gun
                    Better run
Wild babes
                    Wild nights
Easy street
                    At your feet
Hard time
                    Hard line
Hole blind
                    Marking time
Cell block
                    Dead lock
Cage rage
                    Dark days
Stir craze
                    Blind maze
Pace the cell
                    Life in hell
Walk the yard
                    Mind the guard
Hard time
                    Dead time
Do the time
                    Feel the bind
Day time
                    Nighttime
Hell penned
                    Dead end
